The Power in Reinventing Yourself

Reinvention is a rediscovery of your authentic Self, the one you were as a child before “adulting” interrupted its flow. Reinventing yourself is a process but the key is to take slow, steady daily steps.

Reinvention is a rediscovery of your authentic Self, the one you were as a child before “adulting” interrupted its flow. Reinventing yourself is a process but the key is to take slow, steady daily steps.

The act of reinventing yourself is important because as humans, we change overtime, and we outgrow situations, relationships, people and even ourselves. Being able to acknowledge this and rebuild yourself and your life when needed will make you feel fulfilled and whole instead of stuck and broken.

It is never too late to change your story and your path, and the beauty of it is that it is entirely up to you. What your life looks like or doesn’t look like is not something that will happen to you rather something you have the power to craft.

But how? Where should you start?

Here are 4 simple steps to begin your process of reinvention:

You need to be willing to break down. The true understanding that the old you is no longer serving you will require you to crack open and be honest, even painfully honest, with yourself. To start anew, we need to let go of the old. Similar to the motion of a trapeze swing.

Allow yourself to experiment and get to know yourself again. Instead of simply “knowing your passions,” don’t be afraid to experiment with new things. Remember that you are rediscovering yourself and crafting your new story. Pay attention to people, places and things that life puts in your way, there might be signs or lessons to learn about yourself there. A change in your routine can also help you “see” a new path you hadn’t seen before.

Embrace your fears. A chance encounter with something new can turn into interest which can then become a newly found passion. Gently pushing yourself out of your comfort zone helps you to feel and act in a more confident manner. Don’t let your fear control you, embrace it and see what lies on the other side of it...

Declutter. Getting rid of things that you don’t use or don’t like is a simple and effective way of unburying the real You. Follow this with an Emotional Declutter by reminding yourself to be present several times a day. Check in on yourself and ask yourself what you’re feeling. What is influencing or triggering this feeling. What is one small thing that you can do to shift yourself towards something better, more aligned to who you are right now...

A “reinvention” will change your life for the better and getting comfortable with doing this when needed, when your soul requires it, will make life easier. Take your power back and be willing to meet yourself over and over again. Reinvention is about expression, not perfection, and it’s the only way to transform your life satisfaction and live in alignment with your core values.
